Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

This snapshot embodies the impetus for my safari images in Tanzania that I’ve recently shown. The woman depicted here is my Mother, and a couple years prior to this trip, she was hit by a car while crossing a street. Luckily she survived, but there is long-term damage in other ways that still lingers to this day.
.
Anyway, several months after her accident, I was traveling in Bali, Indonesia and she was on my mind. I couldn’t help but think how fragile life is and how quickly things can change. It was at this moment that I realized how fortunate I was to be traveling and having the means to do so. I then recalled that my Mom’s dream had always been to go to Africa, so I vowed to make it happen. Within two weeks of returning home from Bali, I had researched and booked our reservations for a safari with Andy Biggs and Thomson Safaris. Being a photographer, I chose the trip with Andy out of selfish reasons, but it was a fantastic experience for both my Mom and I. We would do it exactly the same next time around.
.
At this point, I want to personally thank Andy Biggs, @theglobalphotographer, and Thomson Safaris, @thomsonsafaris. They made the trip an experience of a lifetime that my Mom still remembers to this day. Thank you!

Ngorongoro Crater National Park

Ngorongoro Crater National Park

The Ngorongoro Crater was my favorite location on safari with @theglobalphotographer and @thomsonsafaris. As we descended from the crater rim along a winding dirt road to the floor below, I felt transported back in time. For the most part, the crater is untouched by mankind with the exception of dirt roads and a couple small buildings at a picnic area. Wild rhinos, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, lions and more roam the area as they have done for thousands of years.
.
This particular image was shot at sunrise while descending into the crater. With my senses overwhelmed, fleeting moments like this enveloped me throughout the day, which I still hold as the fondest of memories.
