I mentioned previously that this trip to Kauai was more about relaxing instead of photography. On the morning when I captured this image, however, we did get up early so that I could specifically photograph this scene. We’d already been to the area the day before, and I felt that it would be a great location for a photograph at sunrise. Therefore, we awoke around 4:30am and drove about an hour to get there, part of which was on a bumpy dirt road. When I look at this image now, I feel that the craggy cliffs, the effect of the long exposure on the water, and the hint of light on Haupu Mountain add a subtle dynamic to the scene that makes it feel prehistoric, and I just about expect a pterodactyl to fly into it. What do you think?
