Nuptials – Image 4/10
.
As I continue with this series of images, I’d like to point out that they were shot over a period of several months. This was primarily because the choice of subjects was not predefined. Furthermore, my wife and I discussed and observed how our garden changed throughout the winter season and into spring. As a particular flower bloomed, we grabbed the camera and played until we found something we liked.

To be more specific on the process, the setup of the view camera was a slow operation. We also didn’t have the luxury of a digital back to give us instant feedback. However, Polaroid film was still available at the time (just barely in early 2008), so this provided the necessary feedback while we composed and adjusted the camera. Once we were satisfied with the image, Fuji Provia color transparency film was loaded and several sheets were exposed.

This image of a rose is one among many on a large vine that climbs a garage wall in our backyard. The first bloom every year is a sight to see as the color bursts into view.
